How come on my friends phone, you have to use the area code to dial in or out?
My friend just got a Boost Mobile phone. Here in Rhode Island, you don’t have to dial the area code in state, long distance or not, because its all one area code, 401. For some reason, when people call his phone, they have to dial 1-401, and then the number. If you dont, it says “you have reached the voice mailbox.” He says that he can’t make calls unless he dials the areacode. Why is this?
It may depend on the type of phone that she has.

What is the area code for The Tampa Bay Area?
This can actually be considered a little bit of a tricky question. The area code for The City of Tampa is area code 813. The bay area encompasses more than one city. It is made up of three actually: Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Petersburg. Even though the bay that these cities surround has Tampa in the name, more than one area code applies. The Clearwater area and the City of St. Petersburg are both served by area code 727. However, the outskirts of the two can have 813 area codes. In fact the 813 covers two-thirds of Pasco County. The area is catered to by 48 different phone service providers which use 632 different telephone exchange combinations.
As interesting as the geography/history lesson above probably was, I’m sure that’s not why you clicked into this darling little article. I would put my money on the fact that you need to find someone’s phone number or in the very least you are attempting to find out who called you and where they did it from. Where I hope the above helped with the latter. But if you are still looking for whom the heck dialed your number there are some sources out there and some techniques for doing so.
A reverse phone number lookup, or rather a reverse phone book like ReverseLookupPhones.net will help you pinpoint who it was without their knowing and even shows you on a map where the number is registered. I doesn’t matter if it is a cell phone lookup either.

There are 2 situations with a cell phone with an area code of 123.
Situation 1:
If the cell phone goes into area code 456 and calls numbers that have area code 456 or other numbers that are in area code 456, would there be an extra charge?
Situation 2:
If the cell phone goes into area code 456, but makes calls to numbers in the 123 area code, would there be an extra charge?
Doubtful there would be any charges. Nearly all cell phone packages in the last few years offer free long distance, and most offer free nationwide roaming.
The only situation there may be a charge is if you leave the providers network, and your plan doesn’t let you roam for free. Area codes really don’t have anything to do with it.
