I plugged my bluetooth into USB and it CAUGHT FIRE?
I ordered a JABRA bt500 OEM USB Cord to plug into my BLUE ANT z9i. When i plugged it into my blue ant the damn thing lighted up yellow and then i could smell like a fire. Its been 2 days and the bluetooth still wont work and smells like burnt discusting fire? Any reasons as of why this might happen?
You’re seriously still trying to use it????????? You’re lucky it didn’t fry your computer. I’d be surprised if you have ANY usb function left.
USB ports are like extension cords and power sockets in the wall. There are one or two ports (depending on the hardware internal to the computer) that are the “main” usb ports. The rest are like extension cords. Put too many on the main ports, and you end up with not enough juice to run ANYTHING. It’s the reason that there’s a “safely remove hardware” function available. They carry electrical power, and if it’s too much (usually due to a fault in the circuitry, but there can be other reasons), then it’s going to fry whatever you put into the port.
Your headset showed a YELLOW light to indicate that it was getting too much power. Whether the cable is faulty, the port is faulty, or both, your headset got too much juice, and it is almost certainly literally cooked. Send the cable back and get your money back; I’d imagine that you’re going to need to replace your headset. If you have some other way to charge it, you can try, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up, if I were you.
