how does t-mobile work in canada?
i have a tmobile plan, and phone.i’m gonna be in canada, victoria, b.c, and vancouver next week…some people said i my fone will work there, but i have to unlock it here first…and then when i go there i have to buy a sim card with canadian number…does anyone know how this work…like does anyone been through this before? if yes please tell mein detail how it really work and where do i buy the sim card in canada…cuz my mother is VERY VERY worry and want to be sure how this work. thanks
so should i buy a canadian sim card here in the US at a local t-mobile retail store or should i unlock the fone here and buy it in canada? and where do they usually sell the canadian sim card? gas station or 7-eleven (something like that)
Your T-mobile phone should work in canada, once you cross the boarder your phone searches for your providers “brother” company which is either telus or rogers. The only reason people are telling you to unlock your phone and buy a sim card is so that you wont have to pay for long distance and roaming. That’s where using your phone in other countries can get a little more pricey. Good Luck!

Wind Mobile Canada, All you need to know about Wind
A wind is blowing everything in Canadian mobile away and it is called WIND mobile. P.S Wind better not steal my catch phrases. Ok where do I start with this quick review on Wind Mobile? Wind mobile is a new mobile company in Canada that claims to be superior to the other companies. Don’t thank me yet but because I care so much for my people, I have taken the liberty to secret shop Wind Mobile on Wednesday 12, 2010. Ever since these guys broke into the market, the buzz has been pretty high. I myself assumed that it was all hype but I stand corrected today, which is why I chose to write this totally unbiased review on Wind.
Wind is offering a $45 voice plan that includes unlimited text (US and Canada), Wind to Wind member calling across Canada, unlimited talk time (Canadian long distance included), and voicemail and caller ID. My first reaction was “OH MY GOD, THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE ATLEAST IN CANADA”. They also have other plans like the $35 unlimited everything except Canadian long distance and the $15 plan with 100 minutes. If you may know, yes I was impressed.
Wind offers no contracts but all phones will have to be purchased at market value. Wind Mobile runs on a 3G AWS network, which is equivalent to the GSM network that we all know and love. Ok so what if they are running on a network that isn’t common. The representative that I spoke to claimed that it is a totally new network (Uh HuH). They say many wanted it but they were out bid. For crying out loud it is a 3G network and people like Virgin Mobile are running on the HSPA 3GS network (It is faster and better). I asked the employee if the phones used SIM cards and this is where it got interesting. Apparently Wind is made up of smarty bunches. The phones that Wind offers, are hot swappable with multiple networks. All of their phones will work with GSM, HSPA and AWS. This means that you will be able to leave Wind at anytime and take your phone to another company with no problems. Now that’s just very wicked, however the Wind employees do not work on commission so I can see how this will work.
Let us go on and talk about the catch. In my professional opinion, there isn’t much of a catch. You will always have unlimited access if you are in the Wind home zones. Now before I continue, I would like to mention that this information was directly extracted from a Wind employee. So the Wind home zones are Ottawa, Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto. As long as you live in these areas, you will be covered. If you live in Ottawa, Barrhaven is not covered. So if you call from there, you will be charged 25 to 35 cents per minute when you call. In conclusion, Wind Mobile is not a bad company at all. Despite their arrogant and annoying approach to the market, it is working. People are going to Wind Mobile everyday and I think other mobile companies in Canada will have to step up their game a little. Where is the best place to buy a sim card in Vancouver Canada for my phone if I am visiting for a week?
I just need a prepaid sim card for my phone for use while I am visiting Vancouver and Vancouver Island for a week. I don’t need much time or anything like that, I just need maybe 60 minutes of sim card time that works on Vancouver Island. Any good sources?
